Production Area

Estate-owned vineyards located in the hilly area north of the town of Bibbona, on mixed clay soils rich in pebbles, well exposed to sunlight at an altitude of 60–70 meters above sea level.

Grape Variety

100% Merlot.

Production Technique

Poggio Regio is produced exclusively from carefully selected, perfectly ripe grapes. Hand-harvested grapes are immediately destemmed and crushed, followed by alcoholic fermentation and skin maceration for about 20 days. After racking, the wine is transferred into new French oak barriques for malolactic fermentation. Aging in wood lasts 12 months, followed by bottling and 6 months of bottle aging.

Organoleptic Characteristics

Deep ruby red color. On the nose, complex and harmonious with notes of ripe fruit, spices and vanilla. The palate is intense and persistent, with soft, ripe tannins.

Food Pairings

Particularly suitable with red meats, game and aged cheeses. Wine suitable for long aging. Alcohol content between 14% and 15% depending on the vintage. Serve at 16–18°C.
